I'm poor as shit, while my housemate is doing pretty ok. Enough?? I mean, I could take care of immediate needs (car repair, paying people back) for about 10k, but that's not a long-term thing. Long-term, I think 1mil would suffice for the rest of my natural life. Totally enough. Bills paid, needs met, no huge newfangled purchases, maybe one or two overseas trips for milestones.

If I were a billionaire I would find out what the financial stream was (income? investments? non-liquid assets that are actually fake and worth zero dollars if I tried to get cash?), and divert funds accordingly. I don't need a lot to live on but I would want to ensure a low-level constant stream of income under 200k/year and everything else would be given away. Hand over fist. Just thrown to every school, library, and front-facing nonprofit. No large orgs like Sierra Club that have too much overhead, only local/state level orgs that are desperate for cash to immediately fund ongoing projects. Maybe a few international orgs in the same vein. I couldn't spend a billion in a year if I wanted to, but I'd be the vigilante giver of money. People would talk about it forever and shame all the other billionaires for not giving enough.
