What is everyone doing this weekend?

I'm going to start the needlefelting kit I bought a couple weeks ago to see if that is a hobby I want to start. :p Other than that, recovering from my road trip from last week. No kids around me this weekend!

Sounds fun! I’ll be hiding in the air conditioned basement for the next week or so. I’m reading Will Wight’s Cradle which I read as it was released up through like book six or seven. I only remembered a couple things from it and now that I’m on book four I’m beginning to realize I probably just got bored and wandered away from it. And I’ll probably do it again.

I'm also hiding in the AC. It was 112 degrees (feel temperature) yesterday. WHAT EVEN IS THAT!!! I hope you at least enjoy the series before you get bored. :) I do that with so many things (books, games, shows).

I just started a new craft hobby myself. I'm making a doll house out of cardboard boxes. I've gotten into interior design this summer, and I want some mini-rooms to play around with. It's crazy how much miniature stuff you can make from "garbage." Tomorrow I'm making crown molding out of Aldi paper bags LOL.

It is relaxing! Yeah, just doing the groundwork now. There's quite a bit to do before you get to the painting and furnishing. I built a staircase yesterday, and that had a steep learning curve. XD Definitely gives me more appreciation for all the detail work that carpenters do.

Work on Sat, but then I'm free until Monday so mostly playing some video games before continuing my Squid Game season 2 and 3 watch with my gf in the evening.

Ooh, what video games are you playing?

I've got some stuff I want to get done in ff14 and WoW before next week, event stuff that has a closed end, so I'm gonna farm a few raids in WoW to help it along.

Massage tomorrow, other than that resting and continuing my Buffy and Babylon 5 rewatches. And lots of kitty snuggle time and napping.

It definitely will be. Getting an early start, at least on the kitty snuggles. She's sound asleep on my legs and everything is good.

As someone curious about Babylon 5, is there a good place to start or can I just jump right in with Season 1 Episode 1?

So, I love all of it. But I will say, season 1 is much more of an intro, it is much more episodic. You get to know most of the characters, but there are more filler episodes. Season 2 is where the plot really gets going. But you do need season 1 to understand the characters and a lot of the relationships between characters and different species.

So I'd say either just start with episode 1, or if you want to skim season 1, there are some good lists out there of the episodes you should watch in order to understand the later stuff.

Debating another quick camping trip, but it we are in yet another heat wave so I may skip it. The nights are cooler (70-80s) but the days are in the triple digits and might be miserable to hike in. But I know this beautiful spot near the ocean that people are rarely at and it is mighty tempting.

Needlefelting seems intriguing! You'll have to update us on how it goes.

I assume you’re one of the regular FS backpackers and so you know how to keep yourself safe. There’s no place around me I can go but if you have a cooler spot on the coast, I’d go for it! Just carry an extra bottle or two for water and map out your water sources beforehand.

Yup, I am one of those anons! This place is a dry hot 8mile hike in with no real water source, but there is a water source and even a pit toilet at the site so the struggle is getting there in the heat. Once I'm there it's all smooth sailing. I might go super early before the sun fully rises, just get there and find a shady spot and enjoy the waves.

I'm still deciding what to do, but I'm thinking of either bread baking and scouting out areas for foraging, or going to used book stores. Might end up watching a movie, too (probably Pompo the Cinephile, that's been on my list for ages)

Oooh, what kind of bread and what do you forage for?

I recently perfected a homemade white sandwich bread recipe! Been on the hunt for making homemade wonder bread kinda bread and have finally cracked the code (the secret is triple your sugar and add powdered milk), so will make that again.

Berries! I'm blessed to live in an area with lots of wild edible berries and it's nearly peak season.

I wanna get lots of art done. I'm experimenting with making fake 90s anime screenshots. I made an aesthetic moodboard of the style to use as ref.

I tried a new breakfast recipe this morning for a veggie packed frittata — it was delicious! I’m going to try a new thing, too. I have dyes and yarn skeins, and I’m going to see if I can get some yarn colors I like, just for fun!

Good luck with the yarn dying! That's another one of those hobbies I'd love to take up but have no room for.
