What canon having babies did you actually like? Are there any people/couples you WANTED to have babies that didn't?

Katniss and Peeta having kids in the epilogue of Mockingjay. Katniss says repeatedly throughout the series that she'll never have kids in a world with the Games. It's too dangerous. But she is always, always looking out for the kids. Taking care of them.

Her having kids, years later, in a world that's been made safe, a world where the Games don't exist, has always made sense to me. She feels like she's safe, they'll be safe, enough to bring kids into the world.

A lot of people miss the 'in a world with the Games' bit about her thoughts and think she flat out doesn't want kids at all. But she always specifies that it's too dangerous to have kids. There's the Games. The Reapings. So when there's not those things... when it's safe, they have kids.

I'm childfree myself, but I really loved Katniss and Peeta feeling safe enough years down the line in a world they helped create, having children and raising them happily, without fear.

We never found out what happened to her after she filed for divorce but I always hoped Rose on Boardwalk Empire had a baby, she wanted one so bad! Also it couldn't have been much of a picnic being married to a gargoyle like Van Alden, plus she was one of the very few characters on the show who wasn't a crook, a killer or a huge liar.

Sophie and Howl from Howl's Moving Castle have kids in the sequels (I think, haven't read them) and that's cool. I love imagining Howl taking care of a kid, he's such a drama king but i bet he figures it out.

Various couples in the Riftwar Series have kids, just because it's set over a long time span.

I love Liam Harper from DC Comics/ Teen Titans

I really wish Dick/Kory could have Mar'i in mainstream DC. She's such a fun concept.

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I'm going to start the needlefelting kit I bought a couple weeks ago to see if that is a hobby I want to start. :p Other than that, recovering from my road trip from last week. No kids around me this weekend!

Sounds fun! I’ll be hiding in the air conditioned basement for the next week or so. I’m reading Will Wight’s Cradle which I read as it was released up through like book six or seven. I only remembered a couple things from it and now that I’m on book four I’m beginning to realize I probably just got bored and wandered away from it. And I’ll probably do it again.

Ooh enjoy your kid-free crafting and good luck with the new hobby!

I just started a new craft hobby myself. I'm making a doll house out of cardboard boxes. I've gotten into interior design this summer, and I want some mini-rooms to play around with. It's crazy how much miniature stuff you can make from "garbage." Tomorrow I'm making crown molding out of Aldi paper bags LOL.

Work on Sat, but then I'm free until Monday so mostly playing some video games before continuing my Squid Game season 2 and 3 watch with my gf in the evening.

Debating another quick camping trip, but it we are in yet another heat wave so I may skip it. The nights are cooler (70-80s) but the days are in the triple digits and might be miserable to hike in. But I know this beautiful spot near the ocean that people are rarely at and it is mighty tempting.

Needlefelting seems intriguing! You'll have to update us on how it goes.

Hope the trip was fun!

I'm still deciding what to do, but I'm thinking of either bread baking and scouting out areas for foraging, or going to used book stores. Might end up watching a movie, too (probably Pompo the Cinephile, that's been on my list for ages)

I tried a new breakfast recipe this morning for a veggie packed frittata — it was delicious! I’m going to try a new thing, too. I have dyes and yarn skeins, and I’m going to see if I can get some yarn colors I like, just for fun!

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Sunday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.

"I spoiled myself for this movie and it actually made me more comfortable seeing the movie knowing how it ends. I am very anxious about plots that hinge on a 'friendship failure' moment but if I know it gets resolved it makes it easier to shut off my anxiety and enjoy.

I sometimes think i'm like this because i have some very bad memories of infighting among my own inline friend groups.

But everyone seems to think spoiling the ending ruins the movie.. but sometimes it doesn't.."

Batman is such an overrated character. There are so many more interesting DC characters, but everything is always Batman and he tends to affect the stories of other characters too, both in comics and adaptions. Wolverine is the same. They both should go away for a long while.

Fandom: Squid Game, ship Gihun/Inho.

I am absolutely into the fucked-up identity betrayal, murder and just general mess that these two have going on. Unfortunately, the fandom seems to be mostly allergic to the above and finding fic where this is even acknowledged is frustratingly difficult.

Once again another toxic ship ruined by the fandom needing to turn them into a bog-standard happy romance. They're not in love, that's the point.

I'm honestly glad Reid hasn't come back for the new Criminal Minds. He's so overrated and got too many plots devoted to him due to his popularity. I'm glad he's out of the limelight now.

I love Criminal Minds. I think it is a quality show that really only had one bad season. Since that season was the one it originally went out on, though, I'm glad it has come back to give us more good stuff.

Fandom trends you wish you were never part of

The other day there was a thread for fandoms you wish you weren't in or could forget. How about trends or fads you took part in that you wish you hadn't?

For me, it was soulbonds. I'm embarrassed by the whole thing and am glad those forums no longer exist and cannot be traced to me in any way.
