Check out Clown Core's "visual album" "Toilet". It's just the two of them and their instruments in a porta-potty. Or their other album (which I prefer), "Van", where they are crammed into a minivan while some dude drives them around.

Sure, these guys are weird as hell, but also VERY technically skilled.

It’s really weird that you think the audience is the reason studios aren’t churning these out. The studios are interested in making as large a profit as they can with as little effort as possible. Story arcs in shows are thinner than tissue paper and characterization is inconsistent. In many cases, each season is separated by years and the actors have played many other roles and struggle or outright fail to get back into character. None of this is the audience’s fault, nor is it the audience’s fault if they lose interest in the years between 6 episode seasons. All of that is exclusively on the shoulders of the studios.

I think it's the studios that have no attention span. I think audiences are dying for longer season and satisfying character arcs.

As for the meat of the secret, I agree I like that but it has to be a very specific trash they start out as.

Audiences do not forgive characters who are problematic easily anymore, if at all. Even minor offenses might never be forgiven by watchers. I'd say an attractive character would be given more leeway to change over a long story arc. But the truth is they wouldn't need to change because they'll have ride-or-die fans no matter what, who won't think they need redemption in the first place (unless they're a woman, but that's a topic for another thread).

There's a reason the writers of Netflix's The Last Airbender removed all traces of Sokka's sexism. They knew there would be people who would hold it against him forever. And people who already hated Sokka, who'd hit him over the head with his misogynistic behavior, no matter what.

To this day, I know people who refuse to forgive Nate from Ted Lasso despite his character arc being so well done, it was second only to Jamie's.

I didn't dislike her. But she wasn't Prentiss and she wasn't Alex. She came right after one really well loved agent and that agent's replacement who also ended up being really loved by the fandom. So she had an uphill battle.

I don't play The Sims, but I have seen this type of thing with other games I play, like Animal Crossing. Someone insisting that the game did something that is simply impossible does get under my skin.

I'm a doll/toy collector and I'm 100% in a agreement with you here. I have plenty of dolls that some people find off-putting (mostly fashion dolls with serious RBF) and I try to be understanding of people having different tastes than me, but no. No with these ugly little fucking demons. I wouldn't want one in my house. They remind me of the godawful furby I had as a kid because they were trendy.
