I love the beach but haven't been on a day trip out to it in AGES. There were a few years in my youth when I had a relative who lived on the beach and so we'd get to spend a week each summer with all the cousins, going down to wade out into the water or check out tidepools most days, go into the little town together to walk around and go into shops and such one day. Make s'mores over a beach bonfire... I'd really love to get to do something like that again but I do not have the money for it.

I do have a convention that I get a hotel room for the weekend of each year, though-- it's not far from home, but it's far enough that the hotel room is worth it, and I get to spend a weekend going between socializing and crashing in my room for a nap, taking pictures... swimming in the evenings (except this year when there was a lot of construction going on).

I feel you. Been quite a few years since I've been to the beach. I grew up on the beach, but now I don't live anywhere near one. Someday I'll get back to the beach.
