It's actually true that people have a harder time telling people apart when they are different than what you're used to seeing every day.

I really dislike shows that have very similar looking people in the cast for this reason (when we're talking US cable TV, it's blandly handsome guys with the same dark hair, similar hairstyles and occasionally, stubble). I really need some of these characters to be styled differently. Office dramas are the worst if they're all wearing suits. Same for military ones when everyone's in the same uniform and they CAN'T give the characters much different hair. You can see how the original Top Gun was an exception, except it seems to me that often, most of the cast in something like that all look like the character Hollywood.

Please give some characters in shows wild haircuts or glasses or something!
