(Anonymous) 2025-08-19 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)Now YA books being first person for most of the time is a new development (as is the genre as a whole) and I could see your argument there. I still wouldn't agree with it, but it would make more sense to me.
I'd also agree that even adult books are a problem. First person used to not be the most common writing perspective, but it seems I can't get away from it nowadays. As someone who is not generally a fan of first person, it's definitely a frustrating change. I do personally think it has to do with a lot of literacy and reading comprehension stats, but I've not really looked into it much.
