I'm not sure if I buy the whole "first person POV is a modern trend in adult lit" thing given that, off the top of my head, Frankenstein, Dracula, the entire Sherlock Holmes series, Moby Dick, most of Hemmingway and a decent amount of Jules Verne are all written in first person. Also, there's still plenty of 3rd person limited POV out there. Third person omniscient is not super common, but it never was. I think it's just that the type of novel that's always reliably been 3rd person POV is not the kind of story that gets a lot of attention on social media right now.
