Depending on the fandom itself, I pretty much agree. For a good portion of the fandoms I'm into there's been good discussions and fanworks that I look in on (so good that I had recently gotten a reddit account right before the news about the UK's internet BS happened :') so I'm still figuring out how to work it).

There have been a few that had descended into either batshit wank or just drama I've slowly backed out of. But other than those, it's been mostly a pleasant experience - especially in my more music-based fandoms.
