Yeah, some fandoms really get into that loop. The good writers get bored with the lack of interaction and leave, the glurge writers get interaction and keep writing even more 9th grade woobies.

However, glurge writers don't have a long attention span before they run off to the next big thing. Check back in on the fandom in a few months and see what's going on.

Yeah, but you need good writers for that to start with!
Frankly it's mostly not about fanfiction but about big disconnect with a fandom.

AYRT True, some fandoms just don't attract them and I wish I knew why!

Yes!
I've been in a lot of different fandoms and some just have cool writers and some don't. Probably just blind luck
