What are some song lyrics that you really dislike? Be it because they're genuinely offensive to you, are kind dumb and/or pretentious or just because you irrationally hate them.

For me, it's Nine Million Bicycles by Katie Melua. There being nine million bicycles in Beijing is at best a rough estimation, girl, not a fact.

I also get annoyed by blatant grammatical errors even though I know it's not that deep. "That don't impress me much" makes my skin crawl.

Also, any love song cover that changes the pronouns if the original was sung by an artist of the opposite sex. Cowards, all of them.

Anything Megan Trainor has ever made, it's just bland pop but for whatever reason her particular version of it is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I don't know if it's the lyrics or tone she uses, but I irrationally hate all of her music.

Oh I hate her so much. She's just so full of herself. Body positivity is great. I'm a fat woman and I wish I had self confidence to love myself. But she crosses the line so far. She seems rather narcissistic.

I just don't vibe with her sound at all. She sounds kind of smarmy or something.

"Shut up and dance with me"

"Shut up" being an incredibly rude thing to say was ingrained on me I just can't get over it.

"now you gotta watch her leave out the window, guess that's why it's called window pane" has always made me cringe

Oh wow, ouch that hurts.

If that was a comedy song I'd tolerate it, but something tells me it was serious.

Anything that rhymes a word with itself. Even if it's being used in a different sense. It just sounds wrong to my ears.

War Pigs by Black Sabbath being one example.

I hate pretty much all of "Butterfly" by Crazy Town but this part really chaps my hide:
"Girl, it's me and you like Sid and Nancy"

I would wonder about any woman who wouldn't back away slowly (while maintaining eye contact) if a man said that to them.

I've grown a real intolerance for lyrics that talk about singing the song that's currently being sung, weirdly - "I'm singing this song to you", "that's why I'm singing this song", variants of that. Gets on my nerves.

The whole of 3OH3’s “Don’t Trust Me” is dumb, but the line, “Shush girl, shut your lips, do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips”, is just extra stupid.

When a singer really, really tries to force a rhyme to the point of ignoring grammar or mispronouncing the word so that it rhymes. Gets on my nerves each time.

that Leroy Boy song when he calls women stupid.

"Bite that tattoo on your shoulder" skeeves me out

I really hate the mostly female songwriting trend of trying to stuff 500-word stream-of-consciousness lyrics into every verse. Fortunately, we seem to be moving past that.

I despise the lyrics of the Rolling Stones' song Brown Sugar. Disgusting. Not a big Stones fan, anyway, but damn.

For the most part, I like Billy Joel. But I hate "Just the Way You Are". It's like, "Wild World" levels of condescending bullshit.

Any song that is basically a "nice guy" telling a girl she should dumb her boyfriend because he'd be so much better.

All of Shape of You. "I'm in love with your body" — no, you dumb shit, that's called lust. The same overuse of the word love when what's happening is lust or a crush is present in countless other songs, but it pisses me off in this one. Maybe because I also hate the tune.

I will be making a few posts in this thread. First and foremost, however, is this line from Sia’s Unstoppable:

“I’m unstoppable, I’m a Porsche with no brakes”

A Porsche with no brakes is a LEMON. GET YOUR REFUND AND STOP DRIVING A DANGEROUS CAR.

Because a hot girl knowing she's hot is apparently an affront. But he's not trying to pull her, he just spends an entire song insinuating that her knowing that she's hot is a character flaw that makes her less attractive (but he'd like to pull her anyway, despite having a girlfriend!).

It's a shame about the lyrics because the song is a total bop.
