You're not alone, I've been feeling the same way. Especially the loneliness. I do have friends online and offline but it's so weird not to have a fandom to fill my time.

On the other hand I've actually signed up with a volunteering outfit in my neighborhood and joined a social thing that meets on Wednesdays. If you don't have something to fill the time then you have to get something in place.

Boy, do I know how you feel. At this point, I've completely disengaged with fandom, because the recurring bullshit has transformed it from a source of relaxation and joy into one of stress and anger. And I have plenty going on in my life, plenty of wonderful people around me, but not having fandom still feels weird, and lonely in a specific way.

Anyway, solidarity, man.

Me and most fandoms, OP. I can empathize, and I'm sorry you're going through all this. It sucks, and the other nonny put it really well that even with other stuff going on, not interacting with fandom but still being fannish is an oddly lonely experience.

I feel the same way. I stopped engaging with fandoms for the same reasons. I'm tired of all the toxicity that has blow out of proportion due to social media, it turned fandom from a source of escapism and joy to one of anxiety and anger. Luckily I still have my fandom friends from years, but I can relate how lonely it feels to no have a fandom to participate after being involved for so many years.

I am currently enjoying the Baldur's Gate 3 fandom, and it feels like the average age is like mid 30's!

Hey, Jaws 3-D may be a bad movie, but for me, it's a fun bad movie. Louis Gosset Jr. chewing the scenery like it's Trident, some seriously hilariously cheesy 3D shots, Dennis Quaid's weirdly funny run to warn everyone. It is campy 80s horror, even if that isn't what they were trying for. To me, Jaws: The Revenge was just awful, that first attack seemed excessively bloody, then the damn shark follows them from Amity Island (off Long Island, New York) England to the Bahamas (even though they flew there!), and Michael decides not to tell his family when he finds out this big ass shark is there (literal days after his brother died and he knows how his mother feels about sharks). The plot is bizarre, the acting is uneven, and the effects are not great. For me, there's no fun the be had with this one.

I watch some of The Take videos but I've always had a bit of an underwhelmed opinion on their videos. They always seem a bit...just...IDK not as well thought out as some other video essayists who make similar content.

Eeesh, yeah, I'm imagining myself at age 20 and 21 and while I wasn't crazy immature and mostly had my shit together... marriage and a baby would've been insane. But at least she (presumably) has money and won't have to worry about finances. That doesn't solve everything, I know, but it helps and they can afford a nanny or two.

So I got a job offer. Had a second interview with them, and then half an hour later they called me with the job offer. It is a significant raise and seems like a good place to work. Super excited.
