Yep. Some fandoms just don't have good fics. In my experience gaming fandom has the worst fics overall, but it really depends on the IP.

DA - What's frustrating is when the fandom initially has really great fic; then the people who were writing the amazing fic leave, and most of what's left is just okay.

I agree that some fandoms are just not great for fic.

That said, I saw someone in one of my fic-heavy fandoms making this exact complaint and it turned out that the problem was that they had extremely specific and complex headcanons for their favourite characters and (shockingly!) nobody was writing the characters that way because why would you? Then they wrote a short (terrible) fic that fit their headcanons and flounced when it got no comments. So it's always worth looking in the mirror when you think there's no good fic.
