It takes, on average, about six months to find your feet in a new job and fit into a new team with its preestablished social norms. You'll do crap, then you'll do okay, then you'll think you are on top of it, then screw up through over confidence, and have to go through that cycle a few times.

They've done studies and everything. Six months.
