Re: Non-fandom secrets

Something that breaks my heart is that I have never encountered a situation where my brothers stood up for me or protected me. If anything, I was the one who had to be the courageous one and stand up for them, protect them.

And while it's good that we don't give into patriarchy by not acting like what's expected (man strong, woman weak), I still feel sad that I don't have brothers who can love me and protect me in ways I want.

I know not to express this because it feeds into upholding patriarchal ideas/expectations. But you know, really sucks that I'm yet again my siblings' mom and not their sibling, someone who needs help and protection too.

None of my siblings (I have brothers and sisters) have ever stood up and protected me. Is this a normal expectation? I wonder what situations you're talking about. But I am also not their caretaker. Idk this ine confuses me. But I do knownthat I am sorry you don't have the relationship you want with your siblings.

DA but it's normal to expect your family to stand up for you ie stuck in an abusive relationship, got into accident, money issues. These are situations where people normally rely on family for help and I have no idea why anyone would think otherwise. Who do you ask if you need help?

It's sad that in 2025 we still have to police ourselves in that way. If we're kind, we're being mom like; if we enjoy protection we are damsels in distress, so... What I mean is it's sad that patriarchy is alive in this day and age but I think it's valid to protect AND want protection for what is an anon opinion worth
