It's likely more to do with how insane and unpleasable Sims fans are tbh

I thought it was more that Sims is largely a boring game to watch unless you're deliberately going for wild households/families myself.

Gavis Bettel of Holostars used to have Sims Saturdays for awhile, and that was not boring due to him intentionally turning it into a soap opera-tier story (and also his S-tier luck meaning weird shit kept happening).
