Thank you! Lol, even more unhinged sounds great, I think I'll give it a try. I tend to "watch" CN dramas with a finger firmly on the "skip forward" button anyway (they're generally too lengthy for me).
I think GJ did play the role well enough, I just have this thing that I never really warm up to Priest's (main) characters and that tends to reflect of the actors for me. Which is why I liked the Scorpion King character so much because he was nothing like the original novel version.

Yeah, skipping over the slow parts really helps. I'm not really sure if I'll stick with this show the whole way, but I'm hoping it somehow works out? I got through Dashing Youth which also wasn't that great, so I might as well.

Ah, gotcha. I don't read the webnovels, so I have no idea how far the adaptations have strayed from the canon. Mostly I approach cdramas with the hope that they'll be fun brain candy.

I just started watching and I gotta say - the wig of the second guy in this secret is impressively poofy. A bit too poofy haha. It's very distracting.

I know, right? I'm not sure why they made his hair so tall, maybe just to differentiate his look from Su Muyu's hair. Honestly, this is one of the issues I have with Blood River... whoever was doing the wardrobe/overall look of characters had their work cut out for them because there are so many damn characters and the majority of them are wearing black, LOL. But they could've done a better job of having more individual styles for the different families and the design seems a bit busy and not always very flattering.

Fully agreed. While I do think a lot of Wuxia/Xianxia shows overdo it with the "colour coded for your convenience" thing, it certainly is helpful to distinguish the characters in shows with a huge cast (especially for my mild faceblindness). I get that it's hard to find a middle ground but the poofy hair... is not it. In general, the wigs are pretty hit and miss I think.

I have by now skip-watched up to Li Daikun's first appearance and I adore this crazy little nugget, even though it's all a bit cringy. Including the costume (I cannot help but see the red Queen Amidala dress). Very recognisable though.

I absolutely see what you meant in the secret though. GJ is a bit wooden and while I think that might be intentional, I can see this being a letdown if you looked forward to this.

Haha, "crazy little nugget" is a good description of Li Daikun's character. I enjoyed his Scorpion King, so it was nice to see him again. Don't love the outfit, but he definitely stands out.

I think DJ improves a little bit and seems to relax after a while, but it still feels like a very muted performance to me. I don't know, maybe it doesn't help that Su Muyu as a character isn't very exciting. The most potentially interesting thing about him is his origin and No-Sword city and potential revenge arc, but so far not a whole lot is being done about that. I'll stick with it for now, though.
