I share similar sentiments. I used to enjoy all the snark and always one-upping each other in sarcastic/quippy comments. Always trying to be the smartest debate bro at every corner.

But taking time away from social media and the internet, recognizing that I'm at a different stage in my life, and some other things...I take a lot of breaks from the internet. I know now I don't need to try to make the internet reflect my feelings.
I also hate the whole toxic positivity BS, so even with the best intentions when asking people to be nicer online can come with its own shitty consequences.
"Don't be disrespectful" turns into a group of people doxxing/shaming a fellow fan in their own circle off the platform because that individual dared to say their favorite pop star's new album is disappointing.
I just...get so tired of all the tone policing coexisting with people reveling in their worst interpretation of the world simply because the internet is all online so you can be a tough ass shit talker behind a keyboard.

I think it's better to take a break from the internet than to tell the internet bottom dwellers they're the worst and need to lighten up. But I completely understand the annoyance with all the shittiness on the internet.
