Re: Spoilers for Hazbin Hotel s2
Meanwhile ... s2 ep3 was... a lot more egregious because she seems like she should know better but in a way I can also see why she's so ...desperate. I think she's overwhelmed with what Emily told her and trying to deal with such little knowledge of it. I feel like maybe she's just desperate because she knows the hotel can work and she wants to tell everyone that but .. the sudden propaganda is making it difficult and she doesn't seem to know how to deal with that.
Aughhh so yeah most of ep 3 is just augh. But Piss was a real banger. I love it.
I hope things turn out okay . And on a selfish level i kinda hope Alastor doesn't end up leaving the hotel and also that we get sometime in between s2 and 3 where its like.. just chilling with out Big Plot Stuff ,.. for fanfiction reasons..

I'm just really hoping the rest works well and makes us understand why that had to happen ....like that.

Which considering the hurt of her mother being missing. I mean honestly I've picked up on this and.. really it's kind of infuriating when we know from the end of the season one finale and the beginning of s2 that Lilith is up in paradise ignoring everything while Charlie, (and by the end of s1, Lucifer) ACTUALLY seem to give a damn about sinners. I mean maybe in an imperfect way but.. like... idk they're THERE. Lucifer may have taken awhile.
so for me its sooo infuriating to see how the news is toward her,

(Anonymous) 2025-11-09 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)The thing with Charlie is that she has been trampling over Angel since ep2 of season 1 (and Vaggie as well, but with less disastrous effect), but was never called out for it by the narrative to the point I wasn't sure it was done on purpose or if the writers genuinely didn't realise.
In the most generous interpretation, where Charlie didn't realise that Angel didn't have a choice in his career and that drug addiction is a serious illness, she still knew that he was a porn star, was into sex and did drugs, because Angel openly talked about these things. But when she wrote that play of a good guy and a bad guy, she cast Angel in the role of the slimy bad guy selling drugs and trying to entice good guy!Pentious to have sex. Good guy!Pentious proved his inherent goodness by rejecting both drugs and sex, which Charlie then celebrated. She completely rejected Angel as a person without realising and the narrative didn't follow that up in any way.
It's why I was personally pretty frustrated with the last two episodes of S1 because Charlie didn't grow out of the flaws that were set up, but instead outgrew a problem that was set up in the penultimate episode (taking charge and leading people into battle).
As hard as ep3 was to watch, I'm glad that this episode openly acknowledges that a very big flaw of Charlie, because that also means it's something she'll likely overcome soon.
I am wondering if it's being set up that Charlie is only doing the hotel not because it's really her dream to have sinners redeemed and go to heaven, but because it was her MOTHER'S dream and this is her way of trying to get Lilith's attention and make her come back home. Looking back, while the original pilot has Charlie lamenting in her song about the Extermination, s1ep1 has her read the story where it says that Lilith cared about the sinners and then, when Vaggie interrupts her, it's immediately brought up that Charlie hasn't heard from her mom in years. It would explain a lot about s1, Charlie's lack of real thought into what redemption means, and why we are focusing so much on her unanswered calls to her mom this season.
