I think it's actually pretty common for people to have messy or conflicting feelings about artistic work made by awful people. Especially if the creators' awfulness wasn't known to them from the beginning.
Hell, people who directly suffer abuse or assault by someone close to them can still have positive memories of or feelings for that person. Human brains can hold a lot of conflicting feelings.
