This is really disingenuous and you are probably transphobic. If I were to find out that a creator I liked were secretly donating huge amounts of money to a dangerous cause or otherwise endangering people's lives, I would stop supporting them. (Thank God I never got into anything Neil Gaiman was involved with.) But nobody has to do any supersleuth investigating of JK Rowling to know what she's doing. It's like. In the news. Oh, and her social media accounts! No other creator on this part of fandom's radar that I can think of has that amount of influence over something as bad as what JKR is doing. If she were doing all this more on the downlow then yeah a lot of us probably wouldn't know about it and would still be open fans of Harry Potter! But she is literally doing the work we don't bother to do for us.

exactly. damn near any time you buy any thing in this world, you are supporting shitty people somewhere, or supporting the use of slave labor/extremely underpaid workers. it is almost impossible to avoid it. we buy cheap shit made in sweatshops in china and pretend like they aren't underpaid and working in dangerous conditions. we eat animal products from animals who live their lives in barbaric conditions. most chocolate and coffee production involves slavery. obviously, everyone has to eat and buy basic items. but any time you buy a new nonessential item, or a movie ticket or whatever else, you ARE contributing to harm. but as people don't know and can stick their heads in the sand, they'll scream about jkr being the devil while they spend their money on other things and companies that are just as bad or worse.
