Like if I want to read a story where homophobia doesn't exist, there are PLENTY of sci-fi and fantasy settings that will give me that.

But I'm PRIMARILY a fan of media from and about some of just the wORST times to have been queer-- I'm a fan of these things as a queer man who wants stories that reckon with these things! And I don't want to have these anxieties ironed out of my favorite characters, I want them to seek joy DESPITE! Because things are hard where I live right now and people are trying to make them harder, and now I have to find joy despite!

also Marauders but in my case it's because the resurgence of the Marauders fandom came with people saying 'tee hee I know jkr is bad now or whatever but it's okay because I'm into a different ERA of hp so you can't get mad at me it's morally pure', and I just can't... deal with any of that.

How dystopian is it that now, not only do we have to worry about AI-generated content, but we have to worry about AI-powered bots using the threat of AI to guilt-trip us into reporting and deleting actual human-generated content?

ayrt and yeah, I'm in the Kpop Demon Hunters fandom and it's OVERWHELMINGLY F/F in spite of the canon M/F ship. Why? Because the movie focuses primarily on the girls and their relationships with each other and the male characters are much more in the background.

What's on your holiday wishlist?

I'm at the age where I'm struggling to think of things when asked. It's not that I have everything I want, it's that what I want is either not attainable at all, or it's far too expensive to put on a wishlist. I'm trying to think of relatively inexpensive (say nothing much over $30?) things that would be interesting, neat, or make my life easier that I'm too reluctant to buy for myself because it's not an absolutely necessity. So far I've come up with... slightly better quality kitchen gadgets/utensils than the really old ones I have. How about you guys?

Yeah, it feels tone-deaf to read a story set in the present day in a canon where queerness isn't addressed at all one way or another, and have the shipped couple immediately and casually tell all their friends that they're together, without hesitation over how they may react.

I know most of it's wish fulfillment by queer writers, but it still comes off to me as like "lol the writer was obviously straight if they think it's that easy."

Was this a claim in the Marauders fandom? I always thought it was understood that the Marauders had a fandom for the open sandbox potential. Female characters weren't in the equation. You're taking one excuse from certain fandoms (which is mostly a strawman these days anyway) and applying it to a fandom it was never a part of and pretending that's proof of something.

I'm the nonny who got reminded to watch from your posts, I am loving this season! The pacing feels better to me than s1 and I'm so excited to see where the plot goes. I really liked the songs in the last two episodes too.

I have a few books on my wishlist, but for some reason people don't seem to want to buy them for me? They're not controversial or weird ones, just a mystery series. I read a lot, but I no longer collect many books these days, just get them via the library.
