That comment is almost certainly a spambot... and if it's not, it's an asshole using "we can always tell" as a dogwhistle against authors they don't like, with no actual concrete evidence whatsoever.

Ignore it, and others like it, and keep commenting on the fics that inspire you. :)

I'm never going to stop sharing the story of how I got a "this cheating author is using AI, everybody report them!!" comment on an update that had no text in it. (Just images.)

The "report their profile" thing is a giveaway that this isn't sincere:

1) LLM-generated fics are not against AO3's TOS. One of the big reasons for that is, to protect real authors from being harassed through false reports exactly like this

2) If the commenter is really mad, they could've just reported the "problem" themselves. But instead, they're trying to pressure legitimate, active, non-bot users to do the reporting on their behalf? Suspicious as hell

How dystopian is it that now, not only do we have to worry about AI-generated content, but we have to worry about AI-powered bots using the threat of AI to guilt-trip us into reporting and deleting actual human-generated content?
