When it comes to fanfic, I’ll happily read any character being any sexuality. Give me all the gay sex between characters who only have straight sex in canon. Or the other way around. But I can’t read it if the story makes them and/or the world around them suddenly super queer-friendly. I know that’s a satisfying or comforting fantasy for others, but for me they’re just not the same characters anymore if you take away all their hang-ups about sex and gender.

I love the Two Point series of games (TP Hospital, Campus, and Museum), but the same company makes Sonic games, and they stick this ugly Sonic shit in if you preorder I have such a negative association with Sonic because of the weirdos who get obsessed with it that I hate to see it in one of my favorite games, but I always preorder because I want the other preorder stuff and I know I'm going to play on day 1.

I could be insterested in a Search for Ben Solo movie if Rey was not in it. I think it would be more insteresting and impactful if Finn was involved instead. Finn was a victim of the First Order and had to serve under Kylo Ren: Ben would really had to confront what he had done as leader of the First Order and there would not be automatic forgiveness because of Force shenanigans.

I can go either way with this honestly. If someone wants to tackle the bigotry in the setting then sure I'll go along for the ride, but also if someone just doesn't want to I'm also okay with that. Like I'm gay and sometimes I just don't want to read gay fanfic dealing with that, I want the imaginary characters I'm reading about not having to deal with what I deal with as an escape.

That comment is almost certainly a spambot... and if it's not, it's an asshole using "we can always tell" as a dogwhistle against authors they don't like, with no actual concrete evidence whatsoever.

the only reason a lot of popular entities aren't on my shitlist is because I learned quickly not to engage the fandom, so my experience hasn't been poisoned.
