(Anonymous) 2025-11-29 06:15 am (UTC)(link)She wrote that song 100% because she knew he would like it. The old Motown motif (ripoff), the penis worship. Travis is a simple, mid-western man and his song reflects that. She does this with all of her boyfriends/ex. She jimmys Joe Jonas, she makes a Jonas brothers songs about it, Taylor Lautner - something that would fit on a Twilight soundtrack, John Mayer - a John Mayer song. Harry Styles makes pop-rock boy band stuff - 1989. Joe Alwyn likes indie/electro/rock. So on and so forth. Travis seems like the kind of guy who listens to Motown whilst lifting or driving or making pancakes or some shit. Wood is 'his' song.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-29 01:05 am (UTC)(link)Taylor Swift could have written a song about what a great and considerate lover Travis is. But nope, she decided to go with the most male-centered idea or good sex from a man - massive dong.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-29 01:31 am (UTC)(link)I also realized agents and record labels tend to push a certain look. So many of my favorite bands and singers hop across different ones, or had songs rejected. I find it silly when Swifties speculate about her inner workings or motives, but sometimes things like that was the recording label's choice than their own. "Do this, it'll sell. No one will like that." Etcetera.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-29 06:51 am (UTC)(link)But, seriously, I contrast this red wood nonsense with Billy Joel's song "She's Got a Way," written for his first wife. It's sweet and romantic.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-29 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)My skin crawls and I want to shout out, "I DON'T WANT TO KNOW THAT!"
Which is interesting, because I love songs that are basically sex jams. I've spent hours thinking about song writers and what inspired them to write those sexy/romantic songs. Like, what does it take to inspire a song writer to write a song in which they praise you? Sounds pretty deep.
So it can either be really good music or cringe to me.
I guess the parasocial element of Taylor and Travis is what turns me off to her sex jams.
