I judge THE ABSOLUTE SHIT out of anyone who actually considers the Terrifier series quality horror movies because I either
1. Assume you're too dumb to know better or
2. Jack off to torture and gore

The people who jack off to gore are at least better than the people who talk about all the gory stuff they want to do to those “freaks” who jack off to gore.

+1

People who admit to jacking off to gore gross me out (well, people who share their jackoff material in general gross me out, we don't need to know thanks), but people who talk about "freaks" and what should be done to them scare me.

...Really?...
:O

You know that's classic fascist language, right? God, the fact that so many people are still surprised by "It's bad to call people freaks and wish violence against them because of something harmless that they enjoy in their private lives" as a statement is so fucking depressing.

I didn't call anyone a freak. You replied to the wrong anon.
I think it's gross to jack off to gore.

My bestie loved the films, I haven't because they didn't really seem like something that would interest me. But I know for a fact that she or anyone else who's seen them don't consider them "quality".
It's gorefest & you don't have to think. That's the appeal.

But fair enough I suppose if there are people who think these films are quality specimens.

I've never seen the Terrifier series, I have only heard people liking or not liking the films. I don't like gory films so it's never appealed to me.

For me though...I hesitate to truly judge people based off what they like. It's taken me a long time to understand that scary/dark things that appeal to people can be a way to interact/process fear or other uncomfortable feelings. It's also messed up to expect people to explain why they like what they do. People who do not want to understand will only find holes to poke in those people's explanations.

There are some messed up/morally ambiguous things that appeal to me, and I know it'd be such a process to talk to someone about why it appeals to me.

Enjoying messed up stuff does not mean that individual is going to commit such acts or that they are evil/wicked.

A friend of mine is afraid of blood and he never wants to hurt animals, but he loves horror movies and true crime stories. People are more than just the worst things that they like.

I run in horror circles and Terrifier is huuuuuge. Like, Frightmare this year felt like it was 30% Terrifier. But I don't think anyone I know has called them "quality" movies - at least in that they are well-thought out, meaningful films. Are they quality gorefests? Sure! They do what they intend to do well. But no one is running to call these deserving of awards with a bigger scope than Fangoria. But splatter horror/gorn has its own niche place in the horror genre, and the Terrifier series knocks it out of the park.
