(Anonymous) 2025-11-29 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)For me though...I hesitate to truly judge people based off what they like. It's taken me a long time to understand that scary/dark things that appeal to people can be a way to interact/process fear or other uncomfortable feelings. It's also messed up to expect people to explain why they like what they do. People who do not want to understand will only find holes to poke in those people's explanations.
There are some messed up/morally ambiguous things that appeal to me, and I know it'd be such a process to talk to someone about why it appeals to me.
Enjoying messed up stuff does not mean that individual is going to commit such acts or that they are evil/wicked.
A friend of mine is afraid of blood and he never wants to hurt animals, but he loves horror movies and true crime stories. People are more than just the worst things that they like.
