I wish people who love getting righteously mad would just admit they love getting righteously mad.

When they're in every thread or post about a band or show or celeb they hate, talking about it 24/7 and then acting like they're soooo tired of the thing they keep engaging with, they're not fooling anyone.

I know this is about the Taylor Swift anons and I agree. You may not be able to avoid hearing about stuff like her marriage, but judging from the nature of your secrets, y'all are out there listening to her entire albums so you can hate every song individually and decide exactly what awful part of her psyche it exposes. Nobody is making you do that.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
How do you know it's about the Taylor Swift anons?

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna assume that ayrt is our resident swiftie who has been submitting secrets fawning over their fave and/or huffing n puffing that not everyone uncritically worships her majesty to the extent that said resident swiftie does. So everything is gonna be about Taylor to them since they're mad defensive about her rn

Idk I've seen Swifties on both side of the love/hate discussion here on FS. Though you do seem pretty made yourself nonny.

I agree, I feel like we have both the strong haters and the strong defenders here. If you say something negative, the defender(s) will pounce. If you say something positive, the hater(s) will pounce.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's just one person who is the defender AND the hater and they are just here trolling out of boredom? Or maybe not, I dunno, I do feel like there are some people here who immediately jump to the worst possible conclusion so they can tear you down or play the victim, and I don't think they're trolling. When it comes to Taylor, if you like her, it means you support billionaires, she's ecocide barbie, maga adjacent, tradwife propaganda, etc. But if you don't like her, it means you're a misogynist, you never say anything bad about male musicians, you're unfairly targeting her, she's obviously talented if she's been performing for 20 years, she donates to food banks, etc.

We have maybe one or two fans who are rarely over the top and we have at least one really unhinged hater who calls her literally worse than Elon Musk and is neck deep in some conspiracy theory shit. So yeah, as someone who doesnt care about Taylor Swift, I see who is worse in this community.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-07 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
lmao @ you telling on yourself so loudly

(Anonymous) 2025-12-04 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess people don't want to admit they're haters because then their opinions will be dismissed as haters gonna hate, even if they're obviously haters to everyone else.

It's pretty annoying when they claim they're not trying to be mad but somehow stumble across stuff about their target of hatred all day every day when people who genuinely don't care, forgot the thing existed.

This secret doesn't mention Taylor Swift but probably some Swift hater is going to make it about her when it isn't.

There’s a reason why extreme haters and stans are basically the same when you break it down: both groups are utterly obsessed with a public figure it’s just that the haters focus it negatively yet somehow are under some bizarre impression that it’s not insanely pathetic behaviour to care about some famous stranger who will never, ever be affected by their one sided beef.

I don’t get either end of it personally and avoid both groups.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I agree, the strong obsession, whether positive or negative, is weird. Either way, IMO you need a new hobby.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
The main difference is the mentality behind it. Obsessing over something you enjoy, while also potentially unhealthy, is still less unhealthy than obsessing over something you hate.

I think I just can’t get the same kind of energy out of hating things. It really seems to invigorate some people.

Occasionally I will sit down to engage with something that I’m pretty sure I won’t enjoy, but want to be more educated about. At least I know that’s something I’m doing to myself.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Same. Critique in and of itself is fine, there's good discussion to be had in that...but there's criticism and then there's just flat out hating and dumping on something on a regular basis. And the latter just sounds...exhausting to me.

My favorite aspect of this is when the people constantly raging and ranting about some ceebrity/show/movie/band/etc. are like, "God, why is this so popular/why is it everywhere?" I just keep wanting to say, "...because people, you included, are giving it attention?" I think a lot of people who spend thier time hating on things tend to forget about that - any attention, be it positive or negative, is still attention. The companies/celebrities/executives/etc. don't care why people are talking about something, they just care that they're talking about it. If people really want things they can't stand to go away, eitehr entirely or at least in their little corner of fandom or whatever, ignoring it completely really would be the better way to go.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
It’s because genuine criticism is actually pretty hard to do, most people think it means endlessly dumping on something, when it’s not it’s seeing both the good and the bad, and sometimes you don’t appreciate the thing because of the bad but that doesn’t mean you ignore the good.

Most folks online do not do this when taking about media they don’t like.

(Using general ‘you’ here)

The celebs aren't going to let you suck them off because you defended them on a small time journal community, anon

Come on. That’s very weak.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
People defend TV shows, movies, and books they like too. Can a book suck someone off?

It's not really about defending the thing or celebrity, it's about defending yourself. "You hate something I like, so you must think I'm stupid or bad for liking it. Well here's why you're wrong about me."

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
DA

Eh, that comment isn't framing the conversation correctly anyway.

'Obsessed haters in general are annoying' hardly counts as a defense of anything, just like 'obsessed stans in general are annoying' isn't being a hater of anything in particular.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
It's funny because your comment is the black and white mentality of stans and haters on display.

Don't like haters? You must be a stan.
Don't like stans? You must be a hater.

Truth is people who are neither of those things find both to be weird and often annoying.
