Duolingo alternatives?

(Anonymous) 2025-12-05 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Anyone using any language learning apps other than Duo?

I want to get back into learning a language after I realized I've lost all but the basic vocab of Spanish when I used to be fairly conversational in it. I'll be doing other things to help me learn but I've always enjoyed the daily app check in. It is just that the last time I used Duolingo I had a bunch of annoying adds every couple of minutes.

I personally love Babel, and if you're a teacher, you get a pretty good discout

I'll try this. I don't feel like Duolingo does a good job of really teaching you. The lessons are either too simple, then they'll tack on a few at the end that are too hard. And sometimes it tells me I'm wrong but doesn't tell me the right answer. And I'm like. ????? Tell me WHY I am wrong, please, so I can learn the mistake?

Plus I read that they are using AI in development and fired a lot of their staff, so y'know, fuck 'em.

IDK if it will be as useful for you if you were fully conversational at one point, but I'm really loving the app "The Language Transfer" for spanish lessons.

Thank you though, I had never heard of it and I am def going to keep an eye on it to see if it gets updated.
