ITT people who don't understand that WeHo is a place.

Also proof that nobody outside of WeHo calls it WeHo.

I was about to ask

I have no idea what WeHo is but then saw everyone replying like it was obvious and was pretty confused.

WeHo is West Hollywood. A famous LGBT safezone neighbourhood, sadly fallen into hard times and "trendy" tourism from being a place people actually live in.

If this was 2023 FS we’d be like you sound American

Re: WeHo

The opposite. Most Americans call West Hollywood West Hollywood.

Anyone casually referring to it as WeHo is unlikely to be American because they know other Americans wouldn't know what they mean.

DA
This doesn't make any sense. I've learned from this thread what WeHo is. I am not American and I had to google what the fuck IS West Hollywood

Re: WeHo

To be clearer: it's almost certainly someone not American, who heard or read about it somewhere, because an American wouldn't ask about it this way assuming that this term is something that Americans generally recognize when it's not.

In the same way an American wouldn't ask a general audience what NoHo was like in the 1980s. They'd know most other Americans don't automatically recognize that this refers to a particular area of Manhattan if that's the only term they're given.

I see your point. But this is a strange assumption to me. As a non-American I would go for a full name so I wouldn't misuse slang. But it seems like some people (American) actually do use this shorthand.

In fact, most Americans call West Hollywood "Hollywood." Hollywood is all one place and we don't know anything about whatever differences exist inside its parts.

That's so weird, I've always called it weho... never lived there. But, I am gay and of a certain age, and I think that makes a difference.
