>>What's the last thing you read/watched/played/listened to that you thought you'd like but ended up disliking?
Wake up Dead Man, the last Knives Out movie. Maaaan, than movie is so boring, predictable and useless it greatly irritated me. I enjoyed the other 2 movies and was looking forward to it, but in the end this last instalment ended up ruining my saturday night. I'm baffled by the positive reviews.

>>What about something you thought you'd dislike but ended up liking?
The first part of the new season of Stranger Things! I kind of hate watched the last two seasons and didn't even want to watch season 5, but decided to give it a go because my sisters want to have a watch part for the last episode. Incredibly enough I ended up quite liking the first 4 episodes! I skipped a little bit (something I usually never do with other series, but did a lot with the last ST season) and was a little bit bored in some scenes and incredibly frustrated for some characters/plot decisions, but in the end I had fun and can't wait for the next episode.
Biggest media surprise of the year for me, for sure.

Man, I thought Dead Man was way better than the second one! I loved it.

I'm glad you enjoyed that! But IDK I found all the characters, Benoit Blanc included, quite shallow and uninteresting. I also found the depiction of Catholicism quite boring and obvious (even if I appreciated the "clash of faith" between the two priests). The humour, that I found charming in the first two movies, completely felt flat in this one. I never laughed! Not even smiled once. I have the suspect it's because the movie is "too American", if it makes sense.

I think that's funny because it was so obviously filmed in the UK.

All of the Knives Out movies are American.

I meant American in the way they treated the themes and Catholicism, not the setting. The characters, too. Actually reflecting on that, the second instalment was probably the most Americanized in term of themes, but I'm deep into internet culture so I didn't mind that. I just enjoyed it for what it was. Maybe Catholicism through American lenses bores me to death, what can I say?

And yeah, the church being obviously NOT American architecture but being sold as that was pretty funny! I think they even pointed that out in the movie.

My roommate and I just watched it and she agrees with you that she likes it better than the second, but first is still top of the three. I disagree and was so bored during most of this one. I don't know what it was I just did not click with the narrative or characters at all.
