Jesus fucking Christ autocorrect. Literally 99% of the time it is "has".

Has
Has has has has has has has

HAS
H-A-(motherfucking)S
You fucking shit for brains tool that identifies our writing habits to be in past tense. Why? Why? Why?
SOMETIMES I'M TALKING IN PRESENT TENSE AND I FUCKING HATE HOW I HAVE TO CAREFULLY PROOFREAD MY TEXTS TO CORRECT A MISTAKE THAT I DIDN'T FUCKING MAKE!

Uuuuuggggh I was just trying to send a text

Ohhh my god autocorrect INFURIATES me sometimes! Sometimes I see why it does what it does but other times it's just 100% illogical and I want to throw the phone at the wall

I swear to gods, autocorrect has just gotten STUPID. Half the time it's either trying to 'correct' you to a word that has zero relevance to what you're writing (stuff not even spelled remotely the same), or it acts like the fact that you misspelled a common word (like definitely) means that it has no clue what that word is and it can't begin to offer a suggestion. Just wtf.

Right?

Yesss. I am not a native English speaker and I struggle with some common words. For example "genuine" gives me trouble for some reason. Autocorrect absolutely keeps ignoring them. But keeps correcting "love" for "live" Every. Fucking. Time. Including this one.

Oddly enough I've only had a problem with autocorrect once but it was weird and fandom-specific. I was writing about how badly the Simpsons had gone downhill and autocorrect repeatedly thought I was trying to say "girl" instead of Gil.

US health insurance

(Anonymous) 2025-12-30 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Deadline is fast approaching and I don't know how to choose health insurance. The one I chose last year ended up being trash so I definitely need a new plan but they are all so confusing and expensive and I have no idea what I'm doing. I hate it. I wish I could go without but I have a lot of health problems and can't really afford not to have any insurance.

I just want someone to do it for me or tell me what to do. /whine

Man just the title of this comment spiked my blood pressure, I swear. I spent like 6-8 hours trying to figure out which one was best. It felt like a shot in the dark even after spending all that time on it. It's literally the worst shit.

I was trying to get ahead of the deadline and signed in a month ago to see what my options are but I got so overwhelmed I just gave up. I can't afford the good plans but I also can't afford the crap plans because they cost almost as much but don't cover anything!

I hate this country so much some days. If I could go back and do it again I'd get a degree and try to leave, but as it is I'm 40 with no degree and a basic poor working stiff so no country is letting me in.

Just terminate coverage and hope for the best? That's what I did.

I'm on depression meds, but those are cheaper out of pocket than a monthly insurance payment plus deductible.

No preventive care, so when I feel ill, I just soldier through on OTCs and honestly hope I die quickly if it's something serious.

Honestly I went years without insurance just because fuck it, that's why, but in the last 5 years or so my body has been falling apart and I was starting down the medical debt pathway and needed insurance. It sucks.

I wish my psych meds were cheaper out of pocket!

I was uninsured before because I couldn't afford it. Was OK because I didn't make any doctor's visits unless I absolutely needed to.

Do you have a doctor that has been really good? If yes, choose a plan that includes them and that you can afford.

Try an assistant or agent. They help for free with Marketplace stuff, maybe they can give you some guidelines that will help.
It all sucks.

Good luck!

So, I'm in a ton of pain today. I called my spine doc. Was told they would call back. 3 hours later I called again. And all they offered was moving my follow-up appointment from January 8 to January 5. I was in so much pain I was worried I wouldn't be able to drive home. I've been laying in bed since I got home. All they've told me is to take ibuprofin. I'm in agony.

Re: Vent Thread

Argh I think I just (an hour or so ago) had a heart attack or similar, but idk how to tell the difference between that and a panic attack, which idk if I've ever had before. I do have both anxiety (undiagnosed but super obvious) and diagnosed high blood pressure that I'm on a low dose of meds for. I also have diagnosed subclinical hypothyroidism that I'm not yet on meds for, but my doctor floated my starting meds after my last lab results showed whatever's wrong with my thyroid has gotten much worse much faster since last year.

I take public transit, which around here stops running a bit after midnight and doesn't start again until around 5am. I definitely can't afford an ambulance and idk if my insurance would shell out. I feel okay now, but earlier I woke up feeling odd, went outside to check on my laundry in the dryer, felt worse, and actually collapsed into a big potted plant.

I didn't have chest pain at all, but I broke out in cold sweat and had ringing in my ears and was shaking and stumbling when I managed to get up, and super dry mouth, and felt vaguely numb all over.

I've had similar stuff happen a couple times before, but never actually fell down during it. I never went to the hospital or doctor for it, but the first time anything similar happened I was with a relative who was in the hospital, and I collapsed at the nurse station on my way back from the restroom. I left a huge puddle of sweat on the counter and when they got a blood pressure cuff on me, my blood pressure had tanked to 40; I ended up in the ER.

They said it was a sort of heart attack, but caused by stress/my not eating or drinking for a couple days; they loaded me down with juice boxes and crackers until I could pee in a cup, confirmed I wasn't pregnant or on drugs, and discharged me. That was almost a decade ago; I didn't start BP meds until this year.

I've eaten and slept and drank water, and don't (knock wood) have a dying loved one to worry about. I'm actually off work this week too so idk. Guess I'll take a shower, hope I don't die in my sleep, and call the nurse advice line in the morning.

I hope you're okay?! This is really concerning!

AYRT - thanks, I feel fine this morning. Idk, the one time I mentioned having intermittent stabby chest and shoulder pain, my doctor said I should switch purses, and, of course, lose weight *eyeroll*.

I'm on track to exceed 3,000 miles of walking this year, I've been vegetarian for 30+ years, and I've never drank, smoked, or taken recreational drugs, but I am fat and like to eat, so yeah. I don't know if I'll be taken seriously and medical stuff stresses me the fuck out. I kind of wish I could get prescribed Ozempic or similar drugs just so I could lose enough weight that doctors wouldn't automatically write me off as just fat. The last time I was underweight, I was an extremely premie baby and they threw a party every time I gained an ounce, lol.

I may make an appointment to get the thyroid stuff checked; if it's worse than 6 months ago I'll take the doc up on meds, and I'll mention collapsing. When I started the BP meds 6 months ago, I did have a week or so of feeling dizzy, shitty, and tired, but those are normal side effects. And now I crave salt like an ungulate, heh.

I feel bad for the potted shrub I landed in, I broke a bunch of branches on my way down. I'm lucky I didn't knock myself out.

Re: Vent Thread F*CK REPAIR GUYS

(Anonymous) 2025-12-30 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Plumber charged $500 for repairs that didn’t fix the problem. Called him back when the problem returned literally 10 minutes after he left. His response:

“Yeah, actually, what you probably need is this other thing. I can come back and do it for another $350.”

Yeah, no dude, you can literally go to hell and I hope your lying ass throat chokes on your own feces for all eternity.
