Amusing coworker fight

I thought some of my coworkers were going to get into a physical fight today! Over snack mix, lol.

Last week, coworker A brought in some pretzels/snack mix her daughter had seasoned for the holidays. She had a bag for each person. This stuff is really good, to be fair. Coworker A also brought in a bag for herself to snack on while at work.

Coworker B tried it and loved it. She took hers home.

Coworker C was off when Coworker A brought the pretzels, so she didn't get hers until today. She has had it before and loves it too. Coworker C bought lunch for the department as a Christmas gift.

Coworker B first asked Coworker A if she could have some of her pretzels that she'd brought for herself. "She's your daughter, you can always get her to make more!" Coworker A was kind of reluctant but let her have some.

Coworker B then goes straight to Coworker C and asks for some of HER pretzels, too! Coworker C was incredulous, and was like, "Are you kidding me?? You had your own! I haven't even gotten to eat any yet! And I ORDERED YOU LUNCH!"

I think she shared a few but then she put the bag away. LOL. I have to say, I was on A and C's side in this case.

Is... is Coworker B hungry all the time? Does she not get paid enough to get tasty treats for herself? Or even to eat? Like, what the hell. I get that the snacks are tasty but presuming that the daughter will make more on command is rude as fuck.

I'd be on A and C's side too.

Some people have no shame. I see it more and more these days, like... shouldn't your parents have scolded you when you were a greedy kid so you knew that strong-arming other people for their snacks is rude? How did you reach adulthood without learning this?

I'm trying to reduce my spending in 2026, and I have seen a trend of people sharing the stuff that they AREN'T going to buy next year. What are some of your things you are stocked up on or don't want to waste money on?

This is kind of a weird one, but hand sanitizer. I have, like, 8,000 little bottle of hand sanitizer. I am absolutely stocked up for a long time. In fact, I'm probably going to give some of it away.

Body wash, body soap, shower gel, etc. I go through it slowly and I have quite a few bottles of it, definitely enough for next year.

Pens. I love pens, and I've bought way too many. I don't need any pens for AT LEAST a year.

Electronics (computer, tablet, laptop, phone, consoles, etc), unless one of my current ones dies or is lost or broken. I am good on all of that stuff and do not need to upgrade any of it next year.

Lip balm. I am a lip balm fiend and am eternally on the quest for the perfect holy grail lip balm, but I've accumulated quite a little stash at this point, so I need to hold off on buying more until I work down what I have now. And I have enough to cover next year.

Jewelry! I have a good variety of decent-to-nice pieces, and should hold off on buying more.

Literally any product that Bath and Body Works sells. Candles, febreze type air spray, body wash, perfume, lotion, soap, wall plug fragrances, car scent things. Even the little cosmetics bags, I do not need. I guess actually I will need hand soap at some point because I'm getting a little low on that but every other type of stuff they sell, somebody needs to stop me from buying.

2026 is the year I reuse/upcycle literally everything but groceries. Seriously fuck consumerism. It's obvious that if you make under $200K/year, you're nothing but an 'eater' at this point and irrelevant to the US economy at large.

Also will not be buying meat, and I'll be watching grocery expenses carefully. I'm legit engaging in depression era frugality out of pure spite at this point because I'm sick of the endless excuses why everything costs nearly 30% more than it did 5 years ago.

For me I just need to spend more time considering purchases before I make them. The vast majority of my spending is groceries or household consumables but I do have a tendency to impulsively get into a new hobby or redecorate a room or part of the house. And I always go way overboard when I do that stuff.

I'm also trying to reduce my spending in 2026, but mostly because its been my way of dealing with my grief after we lost dad earlier this year. Mostly talking about junk food and useless items that don't have a function (ie blind box toys).

I already did it this year and will continue not to spend any more money on Genshin Impact. Not that I ever spent a huge amount but I didn't buy any of the ingame currency or monthly whatever and didn't miss anything. F2p baby.

How do use ao3?

The secret above has me wondering. I don't usually see fandoms I don't want to because I search by characters or ships. Not generally by tags that could have a ton of fandoms (unless I'm making a rec post).

Same. I don't understand people who read for tropes and go in fandom blind. That's not how fan fiction works!

I usually do character or ship. Sometimes, especially for slower or smaller fandoms, I'll just check the whole fandom tag and sort by last updated to see what's been posted.

Once in a blue moon I'll look for tags and sort by kudos or bookmarks, but I'm so picky about fandoms that's usually more frustrating than not. I tend to only do it for pretty small/obscure tags. For example, I did that awhile ago for age play because I was looking for the actual kink and all I kept finding in my fandom was age regression stuff, which is not my thing at all.

I search by ships and the read anything that looks interesting, I’d never search by trope alone because for me I need to like the characters I’m reading about to even want to read fanfic of them in the first place.

By canon/ship+genre, and usually excluding crossovers/multifandom. So I've never randomly run into something else when I'm not looking for it.

If I looked for "hurt/comfort" or something it's so broad it'd expect a mess. lol

Depends on the itch that needs to be scratched. If I'm searching for a kink or scenario by tag, idgaf about the fandom but I definitely will filter out fandoms I know I don't want. I've been in fandom long enough to have gotten bored with just fandoms I know, or annoyed by how much terrible fic there is in my fandoms, so branching out is just what happens.

I like to check out the reddit sub r/booksuggestions and r/BooksThatFeelLikeThis is sometimes fun. I don't really have a place for book discussions.

What do you think about shadow bans and hidden censorship?

Case deleting comments without a trace, Reddit showing your comments to you only and hiding them from other people, Youtube algorithm pushing some videos at you and making you search for others. I also noticed that it became harder to get useful Google results. Do you ever miss the freedome of 2000s Web?
