...Wasn't the family photo an accident tho? Like, I never once read it as intentional, so much as everyone caught up in the energy and excitement. That happens in large families at excitement-filled events.

Fair on the other things, but IMO you shouldn't conflate an accident with purposeful intent.

no, the OP is actually talking about photos next to Abuela's room. she has a photo of herself with every one of the gifted children next to their door taken on their birthdays. Mirabel is naturally excluded because she doesn't have a door, but imagine growing up seeing all of your sister's and cousin's photos with your grandma and acutely feeling you're a disgrace - for a thing you had no control over.

them talking a pic without her at the moment in the beggining is understandable, and I'd even say intentional by creators because it's a bit odd that her own parents don't realise she's not there since they depicted as very supportive through all of the movie.
