Warning: Taylor Swift I know people are tired of secrets about this woman, and I'm sorry!

My family is generally good overall but there are some hangups around the holidays that make it a really really tough time. I spent Christmas Day watching the Eras Tour film and the last few episodes of the Eras docuseries, and that was genuinely the best part of my day*.

You may think that's sad, and I don't disagree with you. It IS sad. But regardless, this was a huge bright spot in what was otherwise a really terrible day, and I'm glad I had something to cheer me up.

*Other than my cat. But she is the best part of all my days.

I absolutely hate explicit sex scenes in movies or shows. They make me deeply uncomfortable. I have no issues with actual proper porn though, funnily enough.
I think part of it might be that I always have "damn this must have been so uncomfortable for the actors" at the back of my mind, even though I don't actually know if that's the case.

But yeah, main reason I could never watch any of the smut heavy shows (just some of the gifsets I've seen for Heated Rivalry or Bridgerton make me cringe).

I 100% get Father Jud forgiving Martha at the end as it absolutely fits with the general theme of treating people with kindness that these movies have baked into them.

But man I am cut from a completely different cloth because I would never absolve someone like her of her wrongdoings, I would let her die entrenched in her guilt and responsibility over what she did because it’s what she deserves.

Some spaces online are so weird about defending Abuela, as if she didn’t fuck up her family so bad from her own trauma. She,

1. Cuts her own granddaughter out of the family portraits just because she doesn’t have powers, like straight up has her treated like she doesn’t exist as anything other than the family maid all over something Mirabel couldn’t control and treated her like is was her own fault.

2. Has an 8 year old kid so terrified over what should be an exciting day because he’s seen and internalised how the family treats his cousin.

3. Has her son ostracised because he told her a prophecy that he has no power to affect or change.

Hating her is not ‘racist’ she’s a horrible grandmother and I still hate that she was forgiven so easily, like she didn’t abuse the shit out of her whole family. Yeah justified emotional trauma and all that but jfc there’s a point where that isn’t a defence anymore.
