You don't think the elves would, I don't know, do some renovations or power wash stuff when it starts looking dingy or falling apart?

Right, like, it's not like they're letting stone cities slowly erode for centuries. In a lot of places with thousand-year-old buildings, they actually do renovate them repeatedly - I'm familiar with Japan and their treatment of temples and shrines built as early as 100 BCE. They preserve the traditional techniques and restore them as they were, but with all new materials. I would absolutely believe Elrond has the Last Homely House restored every few centuries, and the flets of Lothlorien are rebuilt as they wear down. I bet even Thingol had bridges and houses rebuilt in Doriath even though it was safe inside the Girdle and Turgon gave Gondolin a nice makeover every century.
