Been there, and I get it. In my case, my so-called friend was the "fuck the patriarchy" type but would judge other women harshly, especially women I thought she was threatened by.

A very "I hate Pick-Mes always trying to get a man's approval" but is proud she fits in with The Boys because they've picked her type of person.

Best to keep a distance between y'all.

Yeah. What this person also did was reposting all these "Fuck the patriarchy" and "I hate all men and they're the source of all evil" radfem takes (which were basically outright misandry and I'm not using this term lightly) while also drooling over all those outright abusive "I couldn't grasp his dick with two hands" dark romantasy dudes. Like ????

As a former "pick me" type, I agree. Let those idiots deconstruct from their internal misogyny (or whatever racism/bigotry it might be) and stay away. They're in for a very rude awakening.

AYRT
I don't agree with everything Melanie Hamlett says but I like her theory that all women are on a Pick Me spectrum.

I used to be pretty high on the Pick Me spectrum, but blinded myself to it with excuses. However, the more I began to truly unpack my own internalized misogyny, the more I realized I too am a Pick Me.

I'm definitely way less male centered these days, and trying so hard now to help uplift other women and girls. I'm trying my best not to revert to putting others down because I see opportunity to "get ahead" by competing with them (even if it's only in my head).

It was the unpacking my internalized misogyny that made me see the hypocritical things my so-called friend was doing. I can confirm that these people will not unpack their own internalized misogyny until they are ready to. I was only hurting myself keeping such company around.
