Yeah, I kind of feel this too. I do like fiction that depicts much more powerful/larger-scale psychic powers but I feel like there has to be at LEAST some vague notion of power-scaling of psychic powers in the universe, even if it's a bit handwave-y. Like, what actually is a psychic capable of in this world and what does it take to achieve that? If two different psychic characters have vastly different capabilities or skillsets, what is the cause behind the disparity?

When the psychic powers are just like "IDK, the psychic can do whatever they want in this scene", it just feels like an ass-pull every time and not actually a real/relevant or interesting part of the fictional world.
