I've never read the books or watched the show and I've just been sitting here on the sidelines the whole time knowing he's never finishing the series. I feel bad for the fans who have been waiting and maybe I'll be proven wrong in another decade or something (you never know). But when the author admits to relying on his fans to keep track of his own damn worldbuilding for him...yeah my faith in his ability to do anything isn't great.
