I'd like to think so too but considering how fast the Tolkien heirs sold the rights to LOTR (while Christopher Tolkien was on his death bed apparently???) and we got to the extremely turgid Rings of Power in response, there's no reason to think someone won't take up the torch after GRRM passes. It's a legal right to write fanfiction and get paid for it, no one is going to pass that one up!
