Name female characters you feel were screwed over by the writing.

I haven't fully watched the second season of Peacemaker but so far they've completely shafted Harcourt both in her actual dimension and especially in the alternate one. She was basically my favourite character in season one. It part of the reason I've taken such a long break between episodes.

Also Alex DeWitt, she was super cool, even if she did date Kyle Rayner. And is literally the character that instigated the term "fridging".

As someone who have watched it - don't bother. They fucked her character so much. Season 2 absolutely sucked ass.
Tbf writers managed to fuck uo even their own main character.
Also don't start with me about Leota who is reduced to magical negro basically

Cuddy on House. Bones on Bones. Anya on Buffy. Cordy and Fred on Angel. Donna on Doctor Who with her original ending. Jo and Ellen on Supernatural.

Oh man, Bones SO much. And speaking of Supernatural, Charlie getting killed off like that still hurts, like replacing her with her alternate universe self doesn't help if that self lacks all the memories that form Charlie's bond with Dean and Sam?? I guess any woman on Supernatural is eventually going to get either killed off or written badly...

Bones made me so angry. It was so great when it started, and then they decided that Bones had to completely change who she was while Booth was just perfect as he is and didn't have to change at all. I used to ship them back in the day, but the show ruined any desire to ship them.

With SPN, I honestly never made it that far. I stopped halfway through season 7.

This this this! I noped out of Bones before the first season was half-over because I could see that that was the direction it was headed. Also, I hated Booth from the start, with his stupid smug face and the way he's never not being a self-righteous, condescending prick. It's kind of a shame, because the premise of the show is really interesting and Bones herself had the potential to be such a cool character if only she'd had some decent writers.

Abbie Mills, who was great and then they killed her off despite her dynamic with Ichabod literally being the driving force of the show.

And Kate Beckett on Castle who I loved but when she got put fully with Castle her life and her relationships, notably the complicated and strained one she had with her dad, just flat out evaporated from the show. She just became another extension of Castle but one that they had to pretend was the second lead of the show.

Almost every single female character in most shounen anime, which is why I stopped watching it for the most part, so many of those creators hate women and you can tell.

I will never understand how the people who make Sleepy Hollow failed to grasp that the Abbie/Ichabod dynamic was the whole point, and it's not just the Ichabod show.

YEAH Abbie and Kate both deserved better!

I hate what they did to Jackie Burkhart on That 70s Show. All that character development down the toilet, all because some idiot new writers decided they didn't want her with her then-boyfriend.

Haven't gotten to s5 of Stranger Things yet but I didn't love s4 Nancy and it did make me fear she'd get shoved into a love triangle she has outgrown.

A bunch in shonen come to mind. Sakura from Naruto, Orihime from Bleach, and Nobara from Jujutsu Kaisen. I like all three characters, but man, so much wasted potential.

Keiko from YuYu Hakusho, Miaka ans Yui from Fushigi Yuugi, Mariko from Usagi Yojimbo...I could go on.

Nah Keiko was well-written, it's just that the show's ending pushed for a specific scenario and everyone incuding Yusuke was written for that ending. Prior to the end, she was an incredible breath of fresh air compared to most shonen side pieces.

Agreed. I also have to disagree on Miaka, she had a tremendous amount of guts and agency for an ordinary 15-year-old girl with absolutely no useful magic powers or combat ability.
