I love crossovers

But only if they are done well. Definitely not that weird RP stuff that reminds me of the "soulbonds" and "kin" days. I love when an author can make two worlds come together and actually work.

Idk why you have to be the hypeman for your friends. My friends write stuff I am absolutely not into and find pretty yuck but they know this and it doesn't really matter because we're friends. I get excited for them when they get hits and comments but I'm never going to read their fic or share it or anything. Being friends doesn't mean you have to agree and love everything all the time.

Isn't that the same for everything? I love many things but only when they are good.

No, some people don't like certain things even if they are objectively very well done.

Sure, but I think you’re missing their point – that’s different from qualifying “I love ____” with “but only when it’s good!”

In my experience, there are rare instances where someone actually means “I love ___ in absolutely all cases”, but most of the time you can just assume that they didn’t bother to specify the “only when good” bit.

I disagree that you can make the assumption. Some people just love all of X thing. Some people don't love it no matter the quality. Some people like trash (like purposely loving trashy or badfic) some people only read quality.

I wouldn’t consider loving “trash” to be an exception to that. That’s often just someone with a different set of preferences, but not a lack of preferences.

And yes, like I said, there are definitely people who love absolutely everything in a broad category, but I think they’re a small minority.

DA

There are some things I love so much I'll read or watch even bad versions.
