I've seen some done well like twenty years ago. Honestly, it depends what you prefer though, since I love for a mash of the character to be there rather than replacing the originals with a cast from a different show.
The one crossover with a special place in my heart was the Third Rock from the Sun fic crossed with Inception. Arthur was the same character he was in Third Rock, and it was awesome!
