Most of the things I am a fan of, are huge fandoms. I really am not into any smaller fandoms. It makes me feel like a loser who just follows the crowd, but I swear that's not what I do. 😭
I would like to be in a smaller fandom, to see what it's like. But I either love things that are hugely popular, or they are so small that have no fandom whatsoever.

Regardless of what size of fandom I end up in, I'm almost always into the major pairing (~99.98%). Does that make my tastes basic bitch? Maybe. Do I give a fuck? Nope.

Oh same, on very rare occasions I'm into a smaller fandom side-ship, but for the most part I jive with what the rest of the fandom likes too. Maybe it's 'basic bitch' but I'm having fun so who cares?

Sometimes I'm in major pairing, sometimes not. There tends to be certain dynamics I go for, and sometimes those end up being popular in that fandom and sometimes not.

Sometimes that happens! I was into a small-medium fandom for about 20 years then it got a movie and suddenly turned into a megafandom. That was kind of brutal, but it did attract a lot of new people, many of whom then turned to older fics/art or stuck with the fandom when it inevitably got smaller again and it was pretty nice.

Sometimes there are downsides of small fandom. I'm currently in one and, well, technically my pairing has the most fics (because it's canon), but also, I've read and reread the same 20 something fics several times. For that matter, I am contributing roughly like 80% of the fanart (well, of one of its character), so it can be hard to find new stuff.

The benefit of a smaller fandom is that I found some nice friends there and there's something nice keeping discussion of it to only a few group of people without the overwhelming navigating through a much larger one.

I am usually in a smallish fandoms. And while there are benefits having no choice in fic or trying to find your people in a smaller fandom can be difficult
