Don’t invite the devil in. There are absolutely people who argue you shouldn’t use those other words either.

But you’re absolutely right that it’s silly and arguably counterproductive. We’ve all got to accept that words and abbreviations are used in lots of contexts with different meanings.

For example, I’m sick of the number of people who think that “CP” can’t be used in any other context. That attitude seems so very childish to me.
