I enjoy my share of Cdramas and Kdramas but whenever I feel a mood to venture into a fandom for one I am always starkly reminded about how differently I'm viewing the show vs most of the other fans. Because I usually love the female lead only to go find out that the rest of the fandom tolerates her at best and are obsessed with the male lead in a way I just don't resonate with.

We can all approach fandom and do what we like etc, but I rarely engage with these fandoms for the above reason.

Honestly, this feels like a fandom thing in general. I do NOT watch Cdramas or Kdramas, but every fandom I've been in has hated the female characters for one reason or another, even when they're really wonderfully-written female characters.

Oh word OP.

I remember a several years back when I first got into Kdramas I thought to dip into the fandom to see a general consensus and to see other people's thoughts, queue seeing nothing but complaints about the female lead being 'mean' or 'rude' towards the male lead, or her being boring or just irritating in general, often while the male lead is also no bag of delights himself yet his behaviour was being justified or excused or even just out right ignored as bad because he was hot.

Really put me off engaging with those fandoms and for a long time now I've watched the shows by myself and don't go seek out fan opinion. I at most delve into the tumblr tags for gifsets but leave it at that because I know most of the posts are going to be ranting at how 'bad' the female lead is.

There are a few exceptions with these fandoms but they have been very rare.

I’m the same way. I usually love the female lead in KDramas and I wouldn’t watch the show if I didn’t like her, so hating on her just confuses me.

It probably depends on what show is in question, but... I watch cdramas semi-regularly and find a lot of cool female characters but I frequently end up a bit disappointed because the writing doesn't seem to realize their full potential. Very frustrating.

But I digress, sorry! I do see a lot of weird female lead hatred, especially if there's any kind of m/m element to the cdrama. I chalk that up to an unfortunate internalized misogyny and self-loathing, and fans being too immature to realize that you can admire character A or ship two men without crapping all over every women in the vicinity. A tale as old as time, really.

oh i'm so the opposite for these fandoms as well, to the point that if i find the male lead insufferable i drop the show. the writing for men on tv bugs me so much more than women 9/10 because so many of them are dripping with sexist behaviours that seemingly the entire fanbase is ignoring.

but sure the woman at the center of the show is whiny and annoying. 🙄

So there are raptor livestreams. Most of them follow two birds who live in a box or in a nest. Sometimes they have babies. The babies are cute. Which is neat and cool, and half of what I watch for.

The other half is the hilarious dramatics in the chat or in the comments of LadyHawk's compilation videos where the boomer viewers gush about beautiful wife bird and handsome husband bird - who look basically exactly alike - and how much they love each other and project all over them. They're basically writing bird anthro RPF without realizing it and it is so very funny

Hahah. This stuff is all over my facebook algorithm and it is pretty funny. I recently saw someone trying to push back that you can't put human emotions on these birds. I bet the response to that was perfectly normal haha.

I had no idea this was a thing.

But I guess I shouldn’t be shocked. I read about bear cam drama on r/HobbyDrama and that’s got its own set of weird fans with very anthropomorphizing attitudes.

Last year my mother and I were both watching a local falcon cam and by the end of the season, I think we got pretty good at telling the difference between the male and the female, but it was very subtle.

What I like about anthropomorphising them - which I don't, i's about as relevant as doing the same with cats - is that the female is much bigger and stronger than the male. (Where do they think the word "tiercel" comes from?) So that's life goals; those females have got the right idea.

I might flinch and scream at a horror movie, but I will physically cringe and walk out of a movie that relies on second hand embarrassment and romance-related misunderstandings as a source of comedy. It's the secret horror genre.

Good grief, just saw someone comment that the movie "Where the Wild Things Are" is bad because the CHILD boy "couldn't regulate his emotions" and that his mom is a "boy mom". People really don't know how to enjoy things anymore. It feels more like entertainment now is to find something to complain about.

What beverages do you usually drink most days?

Having a bit of a disagreement with my significant other. I primarily drink water, filtered iced tap water. I often have one soda or glass of juice a day. I also sometimes make coffee or tea.

My partner, on the other hand, rarely drinks water, and when he does, it has to be bottled water. He mostly drinks soda, energy drinks, juice, sports drinks (Gatorade, Powerade), or delivered drinks from a soda fountain. Sometimes he buys those tubs of powder you mix into water.

And it gets really expensive. Energy drinks in particular are expensive, and he will drink a minimum of 2 every single day, sometimes up to 5. Soda is also expensive.

Not to mention the sugar. He only gets sugarfree if it it's a flavor that doesn't come in the full sugar version.

It's also frustrating when I buy a carton of soda for myself, and he drinks them all in just a few days. Nothing enrages me more than when I go to get a can of soda and the box is sitting there empty. I should not have to hide drinks (and food, snacks are the same way) from my partner so that he won't drink it all himself.

I don't want to shame him or hurt his feelings, but the resentment is starting to grow.

So I just wonder, what DO most people drink? My parents drink iced tea and water with occasional soda or juice, similar to me.

The place I wanted to say is still lumped in with a Country which it definitely isn't. So I just guessed all the surrounding countries until I found the one that shared enough of the landscape to get it.
