There was a thread where someone mentioned the color of eggshells, and apparently some commenters were so offended by the existence of a white eggshell, that they blamed US agriculture for making eggs inferior or something. When all it means is that the egg was laid by a chicken with white earlobes.

Anyway, that was weird.

Earlobes?

There is a thing in the US where commercial white eggs have really thin shells. But yeah, the color of the shell just depends on the type of chicken. I loved having green and brown eggs growing up.

I've found in some cases the brown shells were thinner. But it varied with the brand.

NA but eggshell thickness is mostly down to whether the hens laying them get enough calcium and enough time between laying eggs to digest it so it's available to make the shells.

And if they don't get enough they get brittle bones, and thin enough shells can break inside them so they get egg peritonitis, which leads to sepsis and death.

LOL, what? I must've missed that one, but yeah... weird.
