I wonder if part of it is because some people genuinely don’t see it or consider it as a kink in all cases.

I probably have a skewed perspective, since I mostly see these things while looking for de-aging fics (characters literally being turned into their younger selves) on AO3. But what I see there is quite a lot of (appropriately tagged) non-sexual ageplay or age regression.

I hate when people mix de-aging with age regression. They are very different things and I'm into one and definitely not the other. I also hate the ageplay and age regression being used as the same thing.

It’s one of my few major gripes with AO3 tagging, the fact that it combines de-aging and age regression under the same official tag.

The users themselves are really good about it, in my experience. They tend to use additional tags, so as long as I exclude “age play” and “littles”, I mostly get only the types of de-aging I’m looking for.
