Olympics

Who is watching? What has been your favorite? Anything you are particularly looking forward to?

I generally don't watch the olympics, but my mother has been watching, so I've caught some of the skating. What I've caught is really beautiful.

Looking forward to four-person bobsled.

Alysa Liu's free skate performance was amazing! She looked so happy and free, and her program was gorgeously executed. Total class act as a sportswoman, as well -- loved her hugging Kaori Sakamoto and getting Ami Nakai hyped up.

yet whoever assaulted her with bleach and black hair dye needs to cease and desist.

Ugh can we not with the looks police?

You havent seen her hair.

Re: Olympics

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
I thought it looked cool in a ponytail with her gold dress!

Let her enjoy being young and free!

Re: Olympics

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I honestly didn't recognize her in the team even, having only seen what it looked like up! I'm glad she is having fun, it just reminds me wayy too much of that skunk style all the emo kids loved like twenty years ago. Not my style at all.

Re: Olympics

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I have and I like it. Its fun.

I love her hair! It brought me straight back to 2008 when all my scene friends were getting raccoon style dye jobs. I love seeing people having fun with their looks.

Re: Olympics

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
That's exactly what it reminded of me too. It's never been a style I've liked so seeing it large and in charge like that just took me back in a -err, not so great way, lol.

It's a shame that in the entire duration of your life, you'll never accomplish even a fraction of what she has by 20, and that you therefore feel the need to tear her down.

Too bad I have eyes, poor girl must break every mirror with that ratty mop of hers. (also be carful what you say, you left yourself wide open for me to rip her apart with what she's been through, luckily I'm not an overbearing killjoy.)

Re: Olympics

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
You actually are being an overbear8ng killjoy right now.

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
......lol. is THAT the big issue you have with her okay lol. You're totally free to have that opinion

but also I am totally free to read your comments and determine that you seem shallow and petty

you left yourself wide open for me to rip her apart with what she's been through

I don't see how that's the case at all. If your reaction is to be even more of an asshole, then that's your issue and no one else's.

She won a gold medal and your impression is to insult her looks. Are you a literal child or is your kink age regression?

USA and Canada hockey is the final!

I had to laugh at this, though; the players quoted say the most banal things.

Brady Tkachuk:

“I mean, they’ve been the top dog. They’ve been the best for the last bunch of years, and for us, we want to be in that position, be the best. So it’s going to be a game where I think a lot of guys could say, this is the biggest game that they’ve ever played in.”

Connor McDavid:

“It is the game everybody wanted and hoped for, and it will be a great game,” he said. “It now comes down to one game between two teams. It is a hockey game, and we are excited about that. Team Canada playing Team USA in a hockey game – that is what it is.

It is a hockey game.

Re: Olympics

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I wanna make a meme with inspiring photos of the biggest player on each team, overlaid by the Canadian and American flags, and put "IT IS A HOCKEY GAME" along the bottom.

Re: Olympics

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
I figure when the press metaphorically shoves mics in your face and demands statements about a hockey game, that's what comes out. I can't blame them for sounding banal unless they're the ones contacting the press to get their words out there (highly doubtful)

Re: Olympics

(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
With hockey, it used to be (not sure if they do it now) that you got lessons on how to deal and interact with the press once you reached a certain level of the game. (at least in North America) It's why most interviews sound the same and they don't have much reaction even to more invasive questioning.

I've been watching pretty much all of it! Currently watching curling, having just finished two games myself even!

I love Ski Jumping, it's not popular in my country so it's the only time I can really watch it. Was a little sad some of my favourites retired and weren't here this year, but absolutely shocked by how quick it went after the delays with the last few olympics. And again by the team result because the snowstorm had them decide to say fuck it we can't finish this final so eveyone gets their medals as is, lol.

Snowboard and Ski Cross is super fun as well! I prefer snowboard though.
Looking forward to the rest of the Hockey too! Basically the only sports I don't watch are the alpine and crosscountry sports.

Have you seen the mountaineering? I couldn't stop laughing! Half the race is taking off and putting your skis back on! I was so confused!

Sorry I ruined your thread OP, truly, I didn't think people would be so offended. At least it's not as bad as the water bottle question? Hopefully?
