It's funny sometimes. People really love to plant their feet, declare that they're morally right, then do nothing to change their surroundings or their interactions because they shouldn't have to change, everyone else should change for them. When everyone else unsurprisingly fails to change for them, they sit there complaining because they don't know what else to do. The thought of leaving never crosses their minds because by god they were here first and are morally correct!

Sometimes you can be completely right on principle and still have to be the one to adjust how you engage. Demanding people and places change for you is yelling at clouds. That's unfortunately just life.

You’re not wrong. I have this tendency towards naivety where I think that starting with a healthy dose of validation will help that advice stick a bit better. And maybe that is true sometimes, but some people clearly can’t move past “this is unfair (or not how I think it should be)” in order to get to practical steps.
